our mission

Rural Preservation Company (RPC) of Clinton County was founded in 1987. We provide various funding options to ensure safe housing conditions to low income residents of Clinton County. In the early years of the organization, RPC helped develop several senior housing properties in Clinton County, including Twin Oaks Senior Housing in Altona, NY and Saranac Valley Housing in Saranac, NY, both of which RPC now manages. Several Community Development Block Grants (CDBG) and HOME programs were administered throughout Clinton County, including the towns of Altona, Peru, Redford, Chazy, Ellenburg, and Saranac. Funding from the program, RESTORE, (Residential Emergency Services to Offer (Home) Repairs to the Elderly) has also been provided to homeowners over the age of 60 in Clinton County.

During the Ice Storm of 1997, RPC was instrumental in securing funding for recovery efforts. RPC is a current member of ADK VOAD (Volunteer Organizations Active in Disaster), working with United Way of the Adirondacks and other local agencies to provide disaster recovery in our communities.

our team

jennifer amell, Executive Director

Jennifer joined RPC in late October 2020 and learned our mission and how to administer grants.  In July of 2021 she took over as RPC’s Executive Director when Laura Lacey Curler “semi-retired”.  Since her promotion to Executive Director Jennifer has secured three new grants.  RESTORE grant for income-eligible seniors, Access to Home grant for accessibility needs for income-qualified homeowners with disabilities, and Access to Home for Heroes for income-qualified veterans with disabilities.  She also works on securing donations for the Emergency Home Repair Fund (EHRF), which offers a one-time emergency repair to income eligible homeowners.  She continues to work hard every day to ensure the mission of RPC is met.

Jolita Aubin, Property & program director

Jolita started with RPC in October of 2021. With the new grants that were secured, and the many tasks that RPC handles on a weekly basis, Jolita has been a great asset to the team.  She is learning a great deal about all the grants that RPC has to offer and how to administer them.  She has also done a wonderful job revamping our website, brochures, and applications.  She continues to learn and work hard at being an instrumental part to the grant process. Jolita has also taken over the position of overseeing the managing of the senior housing properties that RPC is the management agent for.
